Duties Summary The primary purpose of this position is general clerical work in support of the unit, which includes performing a variety of record keeping, reporting, and informational duties. Responsibilities Read and process incoming correspondence and material. Accurately prepare and submit requisitions for office supplies, printing support, and related materials. Compute appropriate postage for mail and sort and distribute incoming and outgoing mail. Make travel arrangements based on general travel intentions, known preferences of traveler and in accordance with appropriate travel regulations. Personally answer routine questions in a timely and accurate manner and provide information when routine procedural matters are involved. Accurately type correspondence, reports, or similar materials from handwritten or electronic drafts using a personal computer (PC) or similar equipment and word processing software. Use database or spreadsheet software to accurately enter, revise, sort or calculate, and retrieve data for standard reports. Maintain and accurately update file system to enable quick and efficient retrieval of information. Ensure correct grammar, spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and appropriate format on written correspondence. General Experience Requirement: For the GS-4 grade level: Applicants must haveone yearof progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work which provided the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position being filled. Examples of specialized experience could include: Clerical, office, or other work such as receiving and sorting incoming and outgoing mail; using automated software to produce written documents; maintaining office files; and answering phone calls in an office setting; OR an associate´s degree or two years of successfully completed education above high school. The education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR a combination of successfully completed post high school education and experience. If you are selected for a position with further promotion potential, you will be placed under a career development plan, and may be non-competitively promoted if you successfully complete the requirements and if recommended by management. This announcement may be used to fill positions with a seasonal work schedule where full-time work is guaranteed for 13 pay periods or 18 pay periods, and when not working, you will be placed in non-pay/non-duty status.
