Bringing in people from more diverse backgrounds not only helps to meet demand, but will strengthen the industry with different ideas and viewpoints. Initiatives like this one are a great first step in highlighting the issue and bringing the industry together to solve the problem, but we need to go further. The government and businesses must work together to identify concrete ways to encourage more diversity in the tech industry, including reaching out earlier through schools, to ensure these types of initiatives are effective for generations to come.”
